영어__기초 숫자 읽기

미국 화폐 단위는  천 이상을 쓸 일이 없는 것 같다. 서비스 업종을 일하는 나에게 외국인 손님을 만날 일이 있다. 기본인데 막상 사용하려면 입에 붙지 않아 잘 사용을 못하는 것 같다. 우리나라 화폐단위를 영어로 외국인에 말 할 일이 있을 때 바로 입에서 나오는 센스를 위해~~

◎십 단위는 패스

↓백 단위는 hundred

100    one hundred(=a hundred)

200    two hundred

300    three hundred

hundreds of + 명사 수백~

↓ 백 단위를 먼저 읽고 and 연결한 후 십 단위를 읽는 게 정석이나, and 생략하고 읽는 사람들도 많다

130    one hundred (and) thirty

670    six hundred (and) seventy

501    five hundred (and) one

255    two hundred (and) fifty- five

※내선 번호나 아파트 호수 혹은 방 번호 들을 애기 할 때는

130 one thirty   ⇒ hundred and 생략하고 읽는다

501 five oh one ⇒ 중간의 0을 스펠링 ㅇ로 읽는다

 

***천 단위 이상은 콤마(,) 앞의 자릿수 숫자를 읽고 thousand 

십만 이상은 우리말과 달라서 콤마(,) 앞에 자릿수 숫자를 생각하며 읽는 연습이 필요하겠다.

(콤마(,)기준으로 앞의 일의 자리는 천… 십의 자리는 일만… 백의 자리 십만…)

2,000   two thousand

3,000   three thousand

thousands of + 명사 수천~

백 단위가 00으로 끝날 때는 앞의 두 자리를 말하고 hundred를 붙여 읽기도 한다

1,400    one thousand four hendred(= fourteeen hundred)

9,106    nine thousand one hundred (and) one

↓자릿수 콤마(,) 앞의 백 단위 숫자를 읽고 thousand 읽은 다음 백 단위 숫자를 읽는다

500,021    five hundred thousand twenty-one

426,120    four hundred and twenty-six thousand one hundred (and) twenty

***백만 부터는 콤마(,)가 하나 더 붙는다. 이 콤마(,)는 million이라고 부른다. 0,000,000
